Just recently, Microsoft launched their new software and services platform named “HealthVault”
HealthVault is simply a new way for consumers to keep track of their health records without having to make that Phone Call to Dr. Phil. It stores personal information in an encrypted data base which can be either kept strictly private, or shared with family members and friends.
You might ask what does Microsoft know about diseases, Viagra and the like. Well, they have established this new service with key partners, like the American Health Association, which enables a pretty reliable database about medical stuff.
Microsoft is actually reaching out to Hospitals and their Doctors for this new health Search Engine. So chances are you’ve never heard of it. In other words, your Doctor will be the one updating your Medical Records, which places you one click away from accessing your Medical History.
This is certainly new competition for the already established Life Record. Life Record charges up to $9,999 for their service, or a monthly usage free of $499.9. Which includes integration with your iPhone. Microsoft’s HealthVault is completely free.
Google has a similar project in development: Google Health codenamed “Weaver.”
