What does a Web Developer, Web Designer, and anyone that works online and in front of a computer have in common? Well, we all have our tools of choice. This is just a post where I can share the programs I choose to use. This list should be similar to yours, but only if your one of the following:
The list could go on but I’ll leave it up to you to add to the list. So the programs I can’t live without are the ones that I use on a daily basis. I have become attached to them because of their great functionality, elegance, and they simply just get the job done!
Mozilla Firefox - I cannot live without Firefox and my set of extensions (Web Developer and SEO Quake for starters). My work habits would suffer! This is my number one program and the one I mostly use.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 - I’ve been the type to use OpenSource like Aptana and Bluefish when I used to have Linux installed. I finally got off my butt one day and went ahead and bought it. And why not? It’s elegant, feature packed, the industry standard. Everytime I fire it up it’s really hard to shut it down. The version I use is CS3.
Adobe Photoshop CS3 - Let me be honest. I really despise the image part of design. I can’t stand editing images. It drives me nuts! (I hope my clients don’t read this) Eventhough thats true I still need a good program for image handling and Photoshop does the trick and then some. Also CS3.
Mozilla Thunderbird - My e-mail client of choice. I can’t log onto my e-mail using a browser because I have several e-mails accounts I have to monitor. This is also my RSS reader. Two birds with one stone! Microsoft Outlook 2007 outdoes Thunderbird in elegance. It’s something I really hope the team at Mozilla can work on in their next major release.
Filezilla - My FTP client of choice. Great program, and it’s free!
Pidgin - MSN, Yahoo, AOL, ICQ, Google Talk. I log onto these all day. The truth is that I’m not a heavy chat person. Pidgin is great because it allows me to check those e-mail acounts without having to log in. I only really chat via AOL and MSN.
Microsoft Office 2007 - The new version of Office is a great feature packed, elegant set of tools for daily use. I also installed their new Expression (Frontpage) and while it’s decent enough it doesn’t match up to Dreamweaver CS3. I’m really impressed at Word’s new set of image editing. It gives anyone the ability to, by a click of the mouse, add reflection, rounded corners, shadows, 3D, beautiful image frames, and much more. Also the ability to post blogs from Word with the use of this tool sure beats Wordpress by a long shot.
Fell free to drop in your programs. I’m curios what other people use. Thanks for reading ![]()
This is my personal blog about Multilingual SEO and Web Design, and of course random stuff about myself.
