So it turns out using that surfing Web (not the Internet as the BBC states) is actually good for the brain. Obviously there isn’t that much of a difference from reading a book, aside from the fact that the Web is a pretty big book with much more information than an entire set of the Encyclopidia Britanica.
Let’s face it, the Web makes good use of that part of the Brain in charge of analyzing and processing info. More so than watching TV, which actually makes that essential part of your Brain fall asleep. TV makes use of your Imaginative side of the Brain which is used for creativity.
This means that whatever you watch on TV you take it in right away without analyzing what it is that your watching. Hence the effectiveness of TV Commercials and their efforts to sell you anything and everything, and I’m not just talking about material objects.
The Web, on the other hand, uses your Left Frontal Lobe which is in charge of the smarty stuff. Even if you are watching YouTube you are still in complete control of what you watch. Of course this totally depends on the person, but if I wanted to watch something superficial just to pass the time I would go and turn on that big boxy thingy you call a Television Set.
Let’s face it, technology is making us smart and that is a very good thing. So good we are seeing an increase of awareness in people when it comes to important topics of today’s world.
