Time to Get a Job?

Posted by: Rohen In: Web Worker

In the vast void of what is know today as the Internet, there are stories of men and women that after the sheer thought of defeat, give up their efforts to create an adequate amount of income as a web worker. Well no one ever said it’s easy. What happened to no pain no game?

The years bring on changes. In the old days there were salesmen and saleswomen who would do the door to door routine in order to sell something. Now we have eBay. In the old days there were paperboys on paper routes throwing newspapers all over the place, now we have the internet with thousands of newspaper articles. There was a time when people would have to actually get a degree, graduate, build a resume, go job hunting, get hired, please your boss, don’t be late, be part of the rat race, and eventually retire. Now there are bloggers!

Of course there are those that do not live in the current year and cannot easily see this change in our working careers. As John Evans once said, ” The Internet is like a giant jellyfish. You can’t step on it. You can’t go around it. You’ve got to get through it.

Google’s Power on the Rise

Posted by: Rohen In: Internet| Online Business

Microsoft may be unmatched in computer software, but who is dominating the scene on the world wide web? Well, unless you’ve been living under a rock on an Island of the shores of Antarctica, Google is! The company which started as a research project back in January of 1996 and what used to be called, “Backrub,” is clearly becoming the web’s most dominating company. Their HQ, named “Googleplex,” is located in Mountain View, California and has been voted by Forbes as the Number 1 company to work for in January 2007.

The company is clearly dominating the web. Think about it, they basically store all of the Internet’s Content on their servers. In other words they could, in theory, have a copy of the internet’s content. Mix that with their advertisement power and who knows when they will surpass Microsoft. Which brings us to the question of the day. When will Google surpass Microsoft? Watch a video about Google’s Power in the Video Section.

List of Web Hosting Websites

Posted by: Rohen In: Internet

For every type of website, blog, or forum there exist a specific type of hosting service. There are full featured web hosting services which, for the advanced user, allows the site to run advanced features (scripts) such as PHP, Java, and Ajax just to mention a few. Of course for people who just want a hobby site, there are services to cover those needs as well, although the functionality of the site will be strictly limited. There are even more specific hosting services for those that want a blog (Blogger), upload images (Imageshack) or videos (YouTube), install a shopping cart, or even host a game server (WOW).

I’ve compiled a list of websites that carry a list of the best hosting service. This way you can visit them all and make the right decision based upon the site’s ratings. Each site has a slightly different lay out.

1. The Hosting Chart
2. Web Hosting Blue Book
3. Top 10 Web Hosting
4. PR Checker Info
5. Host Index
6. HostSearch
7. Global Internet Index

The way things are looking for 2007, free service providers are constantly adding on more and more features and even removing the ADs from their free websites. They’re even adding advanced features like MySQL (necessary to add interaction capabilities to the site), FTP, server side scripting, even free Domain Name Hosting. There are tons of free service providers to choose from. Here’s a short list:

3. Lorereli Free Hosting Directory

5. Rose India
6. About
7. Free Web Space Finder
8. Free Web Hosting

10.OrgSites.com
11. Power Search

For Blog hosting, there are two types from which you can choose from: Open Source, Proprietary, and Developer-Hosted. The best and most widely used by blogging pros is Wordpress. The more user friendly and easier to start up is Blogger.
