What does a Web Developer, Web Designer, and anyone that works online and in front of a computer have in common? Well, we all have our tools of choice. This is just a post where I can share the programs I choose to use. This list should be similar to yours, but only if your one of the following:
The list could go on but I’ll leave it up to you to add to the list. So the programs I can’t live without are the ones that I use on a daily basis. I have become attached to them because of their great functionality, elegance, and they simply just get the job done!
Mozilla Firefox - I cannot live without Firefox and my set of extensions (Web Developer and SEO Quake for starters). My work habits would suffer! This is my number one program and the one I mostly use.
Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 - I’ve been the type to use OpenSource like Aptana and Bluefish when I used to have Linux installed. I finally got off my butt one day and went ahead and bought it. And why not? It’s elegant, feature packed, the industry standard. Everytime I fire it up it’s really hard to shut it down. The version I use is CS3.
We are now finished with the overall design and basic programming for e-commerce functionality is complete. So far so good. The client also wanted Ad Sense somewhere on the site. Figured on the right, a vertical banner will suffice, under the shopping cart link. Now… this will be on hold for a couple of days since we have been asked to wait for a list of more products to add, and the prices of the ones we’ve already added are basically missing. Some products are imported from Italy, and we have received product specs in Italian. So… we are also waiting a translation.
Everything is being done in Spanish. I can’t wait for the overall look to shine so that we can begin on Spanish SEO. David has though of some pretty great ideas on how to promote Spanish sites, but that’s confidential info. SEO will be done strictly in Spanish so I will steer away of anything English related, and try to promote a lot of Colombian sites towards this one in the near future. A couple of local press releases will help as well. Google, Yahoo, and MSN are all we need for this project. Also, since this is a huge project, there will be a couple of more updates on it. SO far phase one is done.
For now I will work on the company site and touch it up a bit. I’ve ignored it for the past 3 weeks due to this project taking up much of my time. I will edit the CSS and add more content, and probably mess with the footer at the bottom. We’ll see how that goes. I’m also working on getting a post finished for Snap2Objects. Mao and I have partnered up to become guest bloggers. WOOT! Anyways, more on that in the future.
If you are tired of using the same ol ways of finding inspiration, then this post is for you!

For instance, Human beings waste tons of time doing unneeded things. I for one find myself working hard in the morning and afternoon. After 6:00 pm I immediately start to lose interest in my work. I am one of those lucky few that have found what it is I want to do for the rest of my life. But after 6:00, my mind wanders. I lose focus. I want to play a game or listen to music. I end up doing something unproductive. Why?
We’re only human beings. We’re not super computers dedicated to productivity. I’ve actually found it healthy to distract myself from my desk for a couple of hours, or even a whole day, as hard as that is. When I come back to my computer and fire up Thunderbird, Dreamweaver, and Firefox, I’ve got this new urge to get stuff done.
I kinda hope I feel that way all the time. But I’ve yet to find something that does that for me. I guess I’m only human after all. No surprise there.
These are my top ways I find inspiration:
Waste time on purpose – Whenever I start feeling the urge to give up, do something else, or find something that is much more entertaining. I do it. I know that sort of sounds retarded. But listen, take that plunge. Realize that you are literally wasting valuable time. Once that craving is satisfied, get back on track. Read the rest of this entry »
What do online terrorism, buying nanotechnology, and learning all have in common?
It’s the one place that has no boundaries, no restrictions, and a whole lot of potential. If you though about the last Hollywood movie, close but not quite! Not surprising, it has become one of the most powerful tools the world has seen to date. Pretty much anything can be done on the web, even getting married online… believe it or not. Why would anyone do something that sacred online? Beats the heck out of me but it’s prob being done as we speak.
Bare with me here. Let’s imagine the following: You’re walking down the street when all of a sudden someone comes up to you and asks, “Howdy! Do you know where 4444 Lexington Park Avenue is? I’ve been walking around for hours and I’m pretty lost.”
Your answer: “Fear not stranger!” You quickly take out your iPhone and fire up Google Earth. “It appears, by looking at my new shiny iPhone, that the address is 5 miles thataway, take a left when you see this building here (you show him your gadget) and presto your there.”
Stranger: “Well gee mister you sure are a smart son of a gun. Take care now.”
You: “No problemo.”
Alright so that was a quick glance at how good of a screen play writer I am. Anyways, that’s just one great use of the Internet these days. Mobile Google Earth. Forget having to own a Lexus with GPS, now all you need is a mobile with online capabilities. Here are a couple of other neat things people are now doing on line. Let’s take a breather first… Ok forget it just click this link below. Read the rest of this entry »
