Happy Halloween!!!

1 Nov 2007 In: Blogging, Vapaeso

I just wanted to write a quick post wishing the whole Blogosphere to have a Happy Halloween. I’ve been extremely busy with the development of other sites. I recently registered another Domain and hopefully it will turn out to be a marginally profitable site within the next two or three months. Gotta wait and see.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Operation Firefox Underway

29 Oct 2007 In: Apps, Internet, Web Worker

Looks like the Firefox team has come up with a new bright idea for Marketing.  Apparently they have set up a new site that proposes the following contest:Firefox Sticker

Come up with a new, intuitive, and unique idea to spread the word of Firefox.  By setting up a huge 3.5 Ft Fathead poster where you live. The key idea here is to place the sticker where people will see it, and in an interesting place where it can give the message that Firefox is more advanced than other browsers in speed, functionality, standards, and security.  In other words: Spread the WORD!

This poster, usually valued at $69.95 at the Mozilla store, is provided free of charge to the winners.   Only 50 teams will be chosen and judged based on FOUR cornerstones, which are:

Performance, Customization, Security, and Community.

As an added bonus, there are prizes for the chosen few.  First place gets a MACBOOK Pro, and secondary prices receive Nintendo Wii.  Their Website seems to state only 3 Nintendo will be available. Makes me wonder what the other 46 applicants receive…

Also, something that truly dissapoints me, the contest is only avaialble in certain contries, which are:

Japan, China, USA, New Zealand, and Canada.

Very sad indeed.  I guess it can’t be helped though.  Applications are due by November 9 of 2007.

Google announced on Monday a seminar for website optimizers. The news was announced on their Analytics Blog.

It will be help on October 30, registrations should be done TODAY for anyone interested. This is typically a phone-in event, but afterwards there will be another follow up seminar as well. It also states that there will be staff members online ready to chat with individual people.

Join Product Manager Tom Leung as he discusses the importance and benefits of optimizing your website design and content, provides a detailed introduction to Website Optimizer, and reviews the product’s latest features. Website Optimizer support staff will also be online to chat individually with attendees and answer questions in real time.

I would love to ask them about Multilingual SEO… I wonder what they have to say about it…

Topics include optimizing content as well as design and webmaster tools features.

Avoid Duplicate Content

Here are several ways companies tend to have duplicate content. Courtesy of an article I read on Search Engine Watch. This is my redefined version in a much more entertaining form.

1. MFA Websites. I’m sure these type of mini sites (Made For Adsense Web Sites) are tempting for Internet Entrepreneurs. I personally stay away from these and try not to contribute into making the Internet full of crap. An MFA Website is a site that is built from the ground up with Google Adsense in mind and used to earn income. These sites are usually made by one person and built multiple times, so one person could have 100 MFA sites. They are also keyword based on a PPC basis, making sure the keyword used has a high ROI (return on investment) per click. The webmaster then steals content from other sites and puts it on their sites, and this tells the search engines that there is duplicate content on the web, or SPAM.

Search Engines tend to give credit to the original source, or the one that posted the article first. Read the rest of this entry »
